AQUALIBI: An adventure for children and… engineers

If the Aqualibi aquatic centre is a delight for the youngest, our engineers have fun there like big children: High chloramine levels in the air, excessive temperatures, … a real playground for engineers who are experts in energy performance.

Since December 2012, Teenconsulting has been carrying out a feasibility study for the aquatic centre of the famous WALIBI theme park in Wavre, concerning its ventilation systems.

Three problems were identified at the outset :

Problems with air quality: Too much chloramine in the air and excessive general temperature in the aquatic centre;
Poor air circulation;
Work to be carried out in delicate situations and in a very short time: Carrying out work at heights during reduced closure periods. Efficiency and speed are required.

The feasibility study

The feasibility study covered the various segments of the estate, whose conclusions and areas for improvement can be summarised in a few priority points:

Installation of new extraction and pulsation networks in the main pool, the restaurant and the “Rapido” area;
Installation of a new high performance energy recovery unit for the jacuzzi area

Before, during, after

By now, the new high-performance energy recovery unit has been installed for the Jacuzzi area, as well as a new extraction and pulsation network in the main pool and in the restaurant.

During the installation of the new equipment, Teenconsulting monitors the work and once completed, our engineers continue their analysis and ensure – in particular – the measurement and adjustment of the air flows.

Since the beginning of November 2015, our engineers have been monitoring the installation of the new extraction network for the “Rapido” area, where the flow rates were clearly insufficient and badly distributed. This will reduce the level of chloramine in the air and improve the comfort of bathers.
